Asparagus Tart

What a delightful light meal. You might have to make two 😉

Ingredients:
 200 g puff pastry, thawed
 200 g fresh asparagus
 2 tbsp cake flour
 1 tbsp First Choice Butter
 250 ml First Choice Milk
 125 ml First Choice Cream
 5 ml mustard powder
 100 g First Choice Mature Cheddar Cheese, grated
 ½ round First Choice Feta, crumbled
 2 sprigs thyme
 2 ml cayenne pepper
 Salt & Pepper
 1 egg, beaten

Directions:

Pre-heat the oven to 200 °C.

Place the asparagus in salted, boiling water on the stovetop for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and drain. Set aside two whole asparaguses for decoration, and chop the rest up.

Roll out the pastry and line a greased tart pan with the pastry. Prick the base and set aside.

For the Filling:

On the stovetop, melt the First Choice Butter and add the cake flour. Stir.

Add the First Choice Milk, bit by bit while stirring. Allow boiling for 2 minutes while stirring.

Now add the rest of the ingredients, while stirring.

Once everything is combined well, pour the mixture into the tart base and place in the oven for 15 minutes.

Adjust the heat to 180°C and bake for another 30 to 45 minutes.

Decorate with asparagus and serve with a salad or as is!
